Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, seeks vengeance.
- Kattigan has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the team access places they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the family.
This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.
